program thank you kate. >> kate, manager of government affairs. go to see all of you directors. director yee, thank you. this afternoon i'm going to focus on the highlights here. each year as much of you know we take a legislative program before you. this program has been reviewed with the city and county of san francisco state legislative committee, including members of the board of supervisors, as well as earlier this month we reviewed the program, the draft program with the sfmta's citizens' advisory committee that was a good opportunity to go over in detail the recommendations brand new before you today. just to quickly walk you through some of the priorities here. starting with the coming year to deal with. our staff is preparing briefing materials so that they are familiar with the issues of the sfmta and our understanding of the broader realm of responsibilitis that this agency now has. the rest of the program here really focuses on the future in the coming year, discussions on plans for san francisco's implementation of the recently approved vlf legislation at the state level. i

the cambodian, laotian, and now iraqi women are distrusting of government. i would like to suggest that maybe we can have partnership with our technology partners to have particular tablets and face time, and split screen. often times when we are speaking it is not just that we say or hear, but the body language as well. for these women from war-torn countries they are distrusting and if they cannot see the person they will hang up. >> that is an excellent idea. it is another homework assignment. will get it done. i will see what we can do. we are coming up with computers and tablets and handhelds. if we can put that technology there we will work towards that goal. >> my question goes back to the ongoing issues. i would gather that this topic has been raised already with the police commissioner or discuss discussed at the commission level. the concern with immigrant communities is that interaction with the police could lead to either party, both parties, being deported and how that is being - whether there is training that sensitizes the least of this, or how is it handled? >> commis
that this governing structure it the most effective wave that we can look at this and if there are other ways, that other cities, can help add to a government structure and that will make sense here and i would like to engage in that conversation and make thur that all of us provide feedback and a little bit of research on that. >> thank you, commissioner. >> and when they say that my plan is that as we convene, a meeting of the personnel committee, and in the very near future and i will figure out as to when the timing of that and i would ask at that point, staff to provide some options so that the committee can have a discussion about what this process looks like, including the engagement of an outside firm and also, a process for making sure that there is meaningful public, and community involvement. and in this election, and the committee could then bring a proposal to the full commission, for action. and but my hope would be that we could have a vetting of that process through the personnel committee which under the rules that governor the commitsing is supposed to perform that function
and the federal government were only able to come up with 16 million, and decreasing every year based upon their inability to get together on hud priorities, that we created hope sf. and out of that came a $95 million commitment. i'm going to see to it that not only every penny of that comes in, but there will be more coming from the private sector because hope sf is about the public-private partnership that we have, that we should never allow our public housing residents to live in isolation from whole communities that i enjoy, that all of you enjoy so much. because when we live in our communities, guess what? we have a neighborhood business district. we have job training. we get child care. we get opportunities to go to city college and work with our education institution so that we can better ourselves. we get child care to help us support the jobs that we need to build for our families. and i know as your kids growing up, they're going to understand these things more and more as they take up more responsibilities, right now keeping you from your brand-new bedrooms clean.
